Velocity Credit Union member wins $500 in eStatement contest

Kristie Robles, a member of Velocity Credit Union since 1982, was the recent winner of $500 after her name was picked in a drawing of the financial institution’s eStatement users.

Robles, who joined Velocity Credit when it was known as Austin Municipal Federal Credit Union (AMFCU), was drawn from a pool of more than 18,000 eStatement users – a group who opt to receive their account statements electronically (a feature of online banking) as opposed to in the mail.

“Whenever we go to our Velocity branch, whether to make a deposit or open a new account—like we recently did for our daughter—the staff is great to work with,” Robles said. “”I’m a big fan of Velocity and their eStatements. They are the ‘green’ choice, plus you get less paper mail that will end up in your recycle can.”

Velocity Credit Union conducts frequent prize giveaways as incentives for members to go green and switch to receiving their monthly statements in their inbox instead of their mailbox. To date, the credit union has awarded more than $3,000 in cash and prizes to their eStatement users. Velocity’s next promotion will award an iPad to one lucky winner.

Chartered in 1947, Velocity Credit Union is a local a banking alternative open to residents of the Greater Austin area. The credit union has assets of $541million and serves more than 70,000 members.
